Safety Integrity Level (SIL)

In the context of functional safety, it is essential to follow specific steps to meet the needs and requirements throughout the entire life cycle of safety-instrumented systems.

HSE Training - international hse courses

Safety Integrity Level (SIL)

Safety Integrity Level (SIL) certification is structured in two levels, testing the fundamentals of functional safety engineering as per IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 standards.

Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) are crucial risk reduction measures in many process facilities worldwide. In the context of functional safety, it is essential to follow specific steps to meet the needs and requirements throughout the entire life cycle of safety-instrumented systems. According to international standards IEC 61508 and IEC 61511, all phases—including design activities, verification and validation, commissioning and startup, normal operation, and decommissioning—must be managed for safety-related systems based on electrical, electronic, and/or programmable electronic (E/E/PE) technology.
